Beyond the Status Quo

Dear Everyone,

I am writing this letter to the poor and the oppressed, and to those who feel powerless in the political system we have at the present time. I know a lot of you don't vote because you have lost faith in the system. I myself often feel the same way. We are faced with a two-party system: a Democratic Party and a Republican Party. We know both parties are only interested in maintaining the status quo, and in serving the special interest groups that put them in power. We know both parties are corrupted and self serving.

But life is about making choices. By not voting, you are allowing someone else to make the choice for you. That is quite alright if you have given up on the system. However, I urge you not to give up. I urge you to make a choice that is based on your own conscience.

I believe we have to demand for a third viable alternative to the two-party system we have at the present time. We have to demand for a party that protects the environment and enforces anti-discrimination laws to ensure justice and equality for all. A party with the following vision and commitment:

  • Replacing the automobile engines with an alternative fuel source. Global warming is a real and imminent danger to all life forms on this planet. We need to address this problem before the earth reaches a point beyond equilibrium.
  • Instituting a fair and progressive tax system that will ease the tax burden for the poor and the middle class, in addition to closing the tax loopholes for the rich and corporations.
  • Achieving universal health care coverage.
  • Allowing parents the choice of schools for their children, including private and parochial schools, with public money going to the schools of their choice.
  • Eradicating poverty and homelessness.
  • Enforcing anti-discrimination laws in employment and education based on race.
  • As you go to the voting booth this November 7, I urge you to make a choice based on your principles and morals conviction. We may not achieve notice during this election, but I assure you we will reach a critical mass, and changes will be inevitable.
